Largs Regatta Week is an annual event and as the name indicates it is a week long. It is not just any old week though………….
This is a fantastic event in a great location with something to offer all racing sailors. The event is composed of 4 main elements catering for both keelboats and dinghies.

1) Clydeport Cumbraes Regatta: The race format is laid windward/leeward courses on the Saturday and passage racing around the Cumbrae Islands on the Sunday. There are 7 keelboat class incorporating IRC, CYCA, sports boats and one design ratings. In addition there is a separate race area for dinghies with racing based on handicap ratings and average laps to cater for all classes to enter. 2) The Maritime Craft Services 100 Guineas Series: This is a series of midweek evening races for both keelboats and dinghies. Video debriefs of the nights action is carried out in the clubhouse over a pint. After top tips and perfecting performance over the 3 nights the winners are rewarded with a cash prize! THURSDAY RESULTS:- CLASS 1 CLASS 2 CLASS 4  LASER HANDICAP NOVICE HANDICAP

3) The Clydeport 2 Handed Race: This is the endurance part of the week. There are two options; The long distance around Arran or the short distance around Holy Isle. Both start and finish at Largs Sailing Club. This is a great change and challenge and one of the only only short handed regattas in Scotland to participate in. RESULTS:- CLASS 1 CLASS 2 CLASS 3 CLASS 4 CLASS 5 CLASS 6

4) Hems Kalis Dinghy Series. Hems Kalis was the founder of the Yacht Haven group and has played a vital role in LSC. The club host this race in his memory and it is for both members and visiting dinghies. There is a series of 3 races held on Saturday with a prize giving on completion. RESULTS:- LASER HANDICAP

To enhance the racing programme there is of course a social programme. To accompany a few après sail refreshments there is live music; steel band, swing band, Scottish folk music and jazz band. The club house welcomes all sailors and provides catering throughout the day.

We are pleased the Friday 24th August Skipper's Reception has again been jointly sponsored by Bank of Scotland and Navigators and General. This provides opportunity for competitors and organizers to meet and get to know one another in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, before more serious activity commences on the Saturday.

To encourage visiting yachts to participate for the full week there is a mid week berthing package being offered by Largs Yacht Haven. It is an ideal opportunity to get a taste of the different racing on offer and compete for the Boat of the Week Trophy.

Overall the event provides a great mixture of competitive and family racing, party atmosphere, local camaraderie and endurance racing. This really is a MUST regatta and an annual date for your diary.

Entry forms and Notice are available on the website and also form the sailing club and Largs Yacht Haven reception. All local and visiting boats are welcome. Encourage as many sailing friends as possible to come along an participate in the regatta either in one element or all three! The more the merrier…………
