Strictly for Beginners, a fun introduction to some moves on the dance floor
Sat 4th Nov 2017
Members Cynthia and Tony Crewe (Aliandy) will guide us through some basic dances steps guaranteed to be fun for all ages. Afternoon tea will be available as we foxtrot, waltz and jive the afternoon away to a surprising array of music. Wear comfy clothes and shoes that don't grip the floor (so no trainers!)
Time to come out of hibernation... It's quiz night on Friday 9th March! With the Cochranes as quizmasters, there will be NO soap questions.....but lots of other topics to pitch your wits at. Avril's famous buffet will be served from 7pm. Booking essential: email@example.com
Quiz starts at 8 and new teams are always welcome!
Freddie and Hilary Moran will entertain us over dinner with tales of their 2017 cruising season
Sat 2nd Dec 2017
A full clubhouse very much enjoyed hearing Freddie and Hilary describe Arctic Tern's great cruising in 2017, from Howth in the south, to north about Skye, and the Outer Hebrides. They were incredibly lucky with the weather - unlike many others!
Their lively digressions on living with a dog on board, walks ashore, and other useful tips and pieces were much appreciated - as was Avril and teams' excellent buffet!
A junior special, with our cadets training season finishing on two highs - the Cadet Regatta, then scooping the prestigious Scottish Club of the Year at Loch Lomond! Well done everyone involved, ashore and afloat. Click on the "download" icon to read about these, and much more!
The open winter series returned to Largs for 2017 with 10 races over five weekends from the start of November through to the start of December. Over 30 boats were afloat each Sunday, with some close racing.
Class 1 had an overall entry of 34 boats, with Alastair McGlaughlan, Prestwick SC, RS300, a clear winner with a string of first and second places to count. Jon Bassett Largs SC in his Devoti D-Zero was second, with other LSC Devoti sailors well placed - Martin Latimer 6th, Billy McCarlie 8th, and Howard Smallwood 9th. Class 2 had 21 entries, and on the top step of the podium were Martin Faulkner and Bill Forsyth in their RS200, with Simon Limb third in his RS100. Largs SC were well represented through the rest of the results. Full results here.
Many thanks to all the volunteers who made the racing possible! Also to Alan Henderson for the photographs.
