NEW! A series of social sailing evenings to encourage greater participation in dinghy sailing and use of LSC onshore facilities.
In response to requests from members, we are providing safety support for independent sailing, not instruction or coaching, providing a safe environment for any member wishing to sail outwith our organised racing and training programmes.
These will take place on Friday evenings, 1830-2000 commencing May 5th and are open to all individual, family and junior LSC members who either have their own boat or are approved helms for LSTA boats (or crew for someone who is).
The club will provide a coordinator and one RIB for safety cover. The RIB driver has absolute discretion about whether to go afloat and authority to cancel supported sailing if weather conditions are unsuitable. Members going afloat would be required to sign out and back in, as for racing
LSTA will provide boats for LSC members who don’t have access to their own boat and are approved helms. A list of approved helms by boat type will be maintained with minimum qualification RYA National Level 2 / Youth Stage 3 or equivalent.
The aim of this series is to encourage participation and have fun, using social media and the foyer whiteboard to organise helms and crew. Member helms are permitted to bring along a non-member (or non-sailing member) crew on a maximum of two occasions to encourage them to join.
