Sailing Convener - Mark Edwards

I started sailing as an infant  on the Thames and up to my mid teens sailed cadets, GP14 and Graduate dinghies in club racing , team racing and local regattas. I moved across to slalom kayaking and canoeing for several years before starting windsurfing, during which time I took part in and organised regattas for course racing whilst dabbling in speed sailing events.

Failing to find convenient windy locations I moved back into kayaking and spent 15 years or so doing sprint, marathon and sea racing, spending 10 years paddling on the French competition circuit.

On moving to Largs 7 years ago and watching a major event organised by the club, I realised that it was time to return to sailing. Since then I have raced Phantom and Supernova singlehanded dinghies and also crewed in keelboat round the cans races. I have also taken advantage of the RYA courses run at the club to gain powerboat, safety boat and marklaying qualifications to assist in club racing and major events hosted by the club.

The Sailing Convener is responsible for the organising and running of the racing at LSC, and is a good initial contact if you are interested in taking part. I am more than happy to answer questions and introduce new racers to competitive racing at this superb venue.
