A dozen volunteers worked hard in early january, sprucing up the clubhouse for the new season, before the clubhouse reopened for the Quiz Night on Friday 18th January.

Most work has been relatively straightforward this year, with no major jobs other than painting a couple of the big walls, plus general touching up of walls and radiators, replacing some skirting boards, and maintaining the auto-close taps. The final big job was shampooing the carpets.

October-December newsletter, on autumn race series at the club, plus junior sailing, and cruising activities. A busy summer ahead, with two major National Championships in July-August.

Look ahead to New Year race Sunday 6th January, help with winter maintenance fortnight, from Monday 7th January, clubhouse reopens for quiz night, Friday 18th January, first cruising group winter talk Sunday 20th January.

Sun 3rd Mar 2019

LSC will be running our early season open series again in 2019. We will be repeating the successful format from the latest winter series, with three short races, and two classes. With Completely new courses for 2019 more options for triangles or quadralaterals. Competitors can choose which class they want to be in, either the short class which will do short courses which will always include a wing mark and a tight reaching leg. Or class long which will be set much longer and will be windward/leeward with a short hitch leg. Please look at the SI's for details.

The New Year Race attracted a good turn out of 36 boats despite the forecast of light wind and rain. On the day there was a light breeze from the South East with enough strength and shifts to keep things interesting. Congratulations to Alistair and Bernadette McMillan in their Merlin Rocket who took first place, followed by the Albacore of Crawford Reid, then the Solo of Kevan Gibb in third. More details below:

The February talks started with a demonstration of a liferaft launch - photos attached. For VIDEO, see the LSC Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/LargsSC/, or this link will take you straight to the video - https://www.facebook.com/LargsSC/videos/2343767052309465/

Largs Sailing Club

Largs Sailing Club was founded in 1936, and is now based in a modern clubhouse in Largs Yacht Haven, just to the south of Largs town centre.

The Club organises a range of activities for all ages and abilities, from the teaching of beginners by the LSTA to hosting large national and world championship events. We also run regular racing for dinghies and keelboats. Our active cruising section (sail and power) organises cruises in company around the Clyde and the west of Scotland, and holds regular talks and skills workshops. Throughout the year, we hold quiz nights, talks with guest speakers, and themed evenings including dances and parties.

Our waterfront location gives us the best view in the marina, as can be seen from the LSC WebCam. Our Lookout Lounge has a well-stocked bar and good bar food at reasonable prices, making it a welcoming port of call for members and guests.

Rooms in our clubhouse are available to hire for any occasion - business meetings, charity lunches, birthday parties, weddings, sail training, art exhibits etc., and are complete with wireless internet and AV equipment. Our fully licensed bar and catering facilities can meet your most exacting requirements.
