We are delighted to be hosting this fundraising evening for the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust. Tickets are available (£10 each) from the club office, the marina office or the EMCT office, all on Largs Yacht Haven. It promises to be a popular night so get your tickets now.....

Our volunteer maintenance team has been hard at work for the last few days, cleaning, painting, checking and general sprucing up of our club for the 2018 season. Particular thanks to a big group of our friends from the FoCCRC who came along on the first day, and made short work of removing all the Christmas decorations!

Saturday's crew of Mike Johnston (plus dog Kirsty!), Hugh Maclean, George Mathers, John Ridley, Neil Stuart and Ken McClelland are pictured, having a well deserved lunch break.

Work continues through until mid January, so if you can spare any time to help, please come along from 10am on a day or two during this process.

The club will reopen for the quiz night on Friday 19th January.

A chance to work off the hangovers and mince pies with the first races of 2018, two races on 2nd January at Largs.

In addition to Alan Henderson's action photographs (see the LSC Racing Facebook page), there is some great drone video from Hugh Macgregor here. Many thanks to everyone afloat and ashore who made the racing possible!

Ashore, Avril had the clubhouse open from 10 o'clock for coffee etc, then food available lunchtime.

The open winter series returned to Largs for 2017 with 10 races over five weekends from the start of November through to the start of December. Over 30 boats were afloat each Sunday, with some close racing.

Class 1 had an overall entry of 34 boats, with Alastair McGlaughlan, Prestwick SC, RS300, a clear winner with a string of first and second places to count. Jon Bassett Largs SC in his Devoti D-Zero was second, with other LSC Devoti sailors well placed - Martin Latimer 6th, Billy McCarlie 8th, and Howard Smallwood 9th. Class 2 had 21 entries, and on the top step of the podium were Martin Faulkner and Bill Forsyth in their RS200, with Simon Limb third in his RS100. Largs SC were well represented through the rest of the results. Full results here.

Many thanks to all the volunteers who made the racing possible! Also to Alan Henderson for the photographs.

Largs SC's Christmas Quiz - after Avril and team's excellent meal, the quiz was interrupted by Ebenezer Scrooge spreading some humbug - and judging the Christmas jumper competition ...  However, Santa finally appeared!

Many thanks to everyone who contributed to a great night, including Graeme and Marilyn for the quiz, Avril and team - and "Ebenezer" Petrie!

Largs Sailing Club

Largs Sailing Club was founded in 1936, and is now based in a modern clubhouse in Largs Yacht Haven, just to the south of Largs town centre.

The Club organises a range of activities for all ages and abilities, from the teaching of beginners by the LSTA to hosting large national and world championship events. We also run regular racing for dinghies and keelboats. Our active cruising section (sail and power) organises cruises in company around the Clyde and the west of Scotland, and holds regular talks and skills workshops. Throughout the year, we hold quiz nights, talks with guest speakers, and themed evenings including dances and parties.

Our waterfront location gives us the best view in the marina, as can be seen from the LSC WebCam. Our Lookout Lounge has a well-stocked bar and good bar food at reasonable prices, making it a welcoming port of call for members and guests.

Rooms in our clubhouse are available to hire for any occasion - business meetings, charity lunches, birthday parties, weddings, sail training, art exhibits etc., and are complete with wireless internet and AV equipment. Our fully licensed bar and catering facilities can meet your most exacting requirements.
