Largs Sailing Club is one of the major championship sailing clubs in the UK, we host National and World Championships for a range of different classes.
2016 was another busy year with the UK Optimist Nationals at the end of July, Largs Regatta Week in August, the RYAS Junior Zones in September, the RYAS Champion of Champions in October, and the RYAS Winters in December.
Luke and Charlotte just back from Rio to talk and meet up with the kids at the RYAS Juniors in LSC - they were both inspirational and answered lots of questions, including Luke's encounter with the White Shark ones from the Regatta fleet. They made up for not racing on a very windy and wet day.
The RYAS Winters 2016 just brilliant - 12 races for all, and 14 for the Lasers over the weekend. Big thanks to the two RO's, also all the freezing volunteers afloat and ashore. Was a great weekend for the competitors and volunteers, just a pity things are about to change for the future.
There is always a need for volunteers to assist in the running of these Events. Don't worry if you think you know nothing and have no experience, we can provide you with education and even use raw muscle power - no one is too old or young to help.
Our volunteers were very proud to have their efforts recognised by the award of the Yachts and Yachting Event of the Year in early 2014, for our hosting of the 2013 RYA Youth Championships (the biggest UK dinghy sailing event outside the Olympics) and held in near Baltic weather!
