Club Racing

Club racing is run in the sailing area off the clubhouse between April and November. We race on Wednesday nights from 7:10pm, and on Sunday afternoons, thee are two races from 2:00pm. Racing is open to all sailing members, including cadets.
The boats are split into different classes dependent on the type of boat. These start and race separately, and there are different courses depending on the wind direction. For the keelboats and fast handicap boats, there are options for longer courses.
For 2011, the racing will be split into three classes, the keelboats, the slow handicap for dinghies with a PY of less than 1082 (so the Laser would be the fastest boat in the slow handicap), and the fast handicap class for boats with a handicap of faster than 1082.
For 2011 the start order will be:

  • Keelboat
  • Slow Handicap
  • Fast Handicap

There will be prizes for the first to third boats in each class, and if we get enough of any particular type of boat e.g. Topper or Laser, they will get a first and second prize. There will also be additional spot, and improver’s prizes.
